Welcome to Workshop # 3: Building Your PoL Scholar Profile!
Today’s the day! In today's workshop we will work together to build digital profiles of each of our scholars. The profiles will tell our students' stories and help us share the power and potential of the Portrait of a Graduate on our district. Through this process, our scholars will create a digital profile that will:

Overview of the Portrait of a Learner Profiles
The profiles that our scholars will create are intended to showcase their personal narrative, highlight how you have explored the Portrait of a Learner, and tell a powerful story of learning. Each of the profiles will be comprised of five components including:
- A professional biography - A brief, engaging introduction to who you are and what makes you unique.
- A Portrait of a Learner Reflection - Telling your personal narrative through the lens of the Portrait of a Learner.
- A quote that connects to your personal narrative - Memorable words that give insight into your story.
- Three numbers that tell your story - A unique way to highlight the moments, learning, and experiences featured in your biography and your reflection.
What do you want others to know about you?
Throughout today's workshop, we'll be working together to tap into your personal narrative. Everyone has a unique story to tell. As we get started today, let's take a moment to reflect on and begin sharing our narratives. Click the button below and answer the prompt, "What do you want others to know about you?"
PART 1: Writing your professional bio
A professional bio is your opportunity to introduction yourself to others in a digital space. Writing about yourself and your accomplishments is sometimes a challenging task. Writing about yourself could be one of the most important skills in marketing your skills. Your professional bio is often the first impression that people have about you. Sometime in the near future (if you haven't needed one already!), you will need a bio to quickly communicate who you are on personal blogs, social media, LinkedIn, or even on your employer’s website. Your bio should communicate your uniqueness, interests, as well as potential career pathways or fields of study. Additionally, it will be a highlight of our PoL Scholar profile to highlight your uniqueness to our school community and beyond!
PART 2: Creating Your Portrait of a Learner Reflection
Throughout our workshops, we've not only been learning about ourselves but also about the six skills embedded in the Portrait of a Learner. Those include being a global citizen, a mindful learner, an effective communicator, a skillful collaborator, a solution seeker, and an inspired innovator. In this part of our process we will blend together our personal stories and the Portrait of a Learner - showing ways that each of us has explored and developed the PoL skills.
PART 3: Numbers That Tell Your Story
Often in schools, we associate numbers with scores on tests and quizzes, grades on a report card, or scores on SAT or MCAS. We know that success does not equal these numbers. They do not define who we are as learners. We believe that we can redefine the types of numbers that help to tell our story! Think about the numbers that would help to tell your story in a way that is fun, unique, and inspiring to your readers. What haven't you shared yet that could be shared through numbers?
